Office of Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs/Academic Affairs
Under the leadership of the vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean of faculty (VCAA), the Office of Academic Affairs works with the division chairs, discipline coordinators, and other stakeholders across the university to create and sustain an environment that advances students' success and serves diverse constituencies. The Office of Academic Affairs administers, organizes, and develops the academic and instructional programs and services for the campus.
As the chief academic officer, the vice chancellor for academic affairs makes recommendations to the chancellor for conferring tenure and granting of faculty promotions. The VCAA ranks next to the chancellor in campus leadership, acts on the chancellor’s behalf in the chancellor’s absence, and serves as a liaison to the UMN system for academic affairs issues.
