The Cougar Closet is a FREE resource for students who want or need business and professional attire for career events, such as interviews, fairs, and conference attendance. It is located in the lounge space in the Academic Center for Enrichment.
Eligibility
The closet is open to currently enrolled students seeking professional attire for interviews, internships, career fairs, or other professional events.
No Cost
All items are free of charge. Students may take up to a set number of items per semester (e.g., 3–5 items) to ensure equitable access.
Donation Standards
Donated items must be clean, gently used or new, and appropriate for professional settings (e.g., suits, blouses, dress shoes, ties, slacks, skirts).
Inventory Rotation
Inventory is refreshed regularly. Items not claimed after a certain period may be donated to local nonprofits or recycled responsibly.
Respectful Use
Students are expected to treat the space and items with care. Trying on clothes is allowed, but items should be returned to racks if not taken.
Confidentiality
No student is required to disclose financial need. Use of the closet is confidential and stigma-free.
Appointment or Walk-In
Students may visit during posted hours or schedule appointments for personalized assistance (e.g., sizing help or outfit coordination).
One-Time Use vs. Repeat Access
Students may access the closet multiple times, but repeat visits may be tracked to ensure fair distribution and inventory management.
Feedback Encouraged
Students are invited to share feedback on the closet’s offerings and suggest items that would better meet their needs.
Promotion and Partnerships
The closet is promoted through career services, student affairs, and academic departments. Partnerships with local businesses or alumni networks may support inventory and funding.
