Camerata Strings is the primary performance ensemble for string players at UMN Morris. Open to all students, regardless of their major or level of musical experience, the ensemble rehearses twice a week and performs throughout the academic year in concerts on campus, in the community, and on tour. The ensemble performs a diverse repertoire for both strings and full orchestra, and regularly collaborates with soloists, other campus ensembles, and visiting artists.
To Participate
If you’re interested in participating in the Camerata Strings and haven’t done so before, a friendly, informal audition is required, during which time you are requested to perform a short solo piece that represents your highest level of playing.
If you need an instrument for auditions, please contact Professor Simon Tillier. An instrument will be provided for the audition and then permanently checked-out to you if admitted to the ensemble. Instruments can be stored in the Humanities Fine Arts Building, either in a student locker or the humidified String Instrument Storage Room.
