The United Staff Association (USA) Scholarship is $500. All applications will be reviewed and considered. If you have any questions, please contact one of the committee members.
Eligibility
- Recipient must be a relative of a United Staff Association (USA) staff member who is employed at least 50% time: child, stepchild, grandchild, or spouse.
- Recipient must be attending UMN Morris the spring semester of when application is submitted. Preference will be given to full-time students. Students attending UMN Morris under the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options Act (PSEOA) are not eligible.
- Recipient must have a current cumulative UMN Morris GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Criteria
- Scholastic achievement (minimum 2.0 UMN Morris GPA).
The following criteria are optional but may be used in the committee’s deliberation.
- Morris campus and community involvement (i.e., volunteering on campus or in the community, serving as a teaching assistant, etc.).
- Other achievements.
- Activities (i.e., involvement in a student organization, hobbies, etc.).
If committee members do not reach consensus on which applicant should be the recipient, the scholarship will be given to the applicant with the highest number of completed UMM credits. If the number of completed credits is equal, financial need (as determined by the UMN Morris Office of Financial Aid) will be the determining factor.
Nomination Process
- Students can receive the scholarship more than once, however, preference will be given to new applicants.
- The award will be presented to the recipient from the Association to be used as he/she chooses.
- If no applications are received on the first call for applications, a second call for applications may be sent.
- If no qualified applicants apply, no award will be given.
