Tina (she/her/ikwe) is an enrolled Buffalo Point First Nation member in Treaty 3 with ancestral roots in White Earth Ojibwe Nation. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota Crookston and has studied Management and Indigenous Studies at the University of Manitoba. Tina earned her master’s degree in Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth and is pursuing a doctoral degree in Education focusing on Indigenous ways of knowing in higher education.
Tina has worked in her community in the health sector and previously supervised and managed international and cross-cultural exchanges and internships for young Indigenous interns in Ukraine, Peru, Canada, and Nicaragua. Her work focused on increasing awareness, engagement, and participation of Indigenous youth in international development while providing them with opportunities to enhance their employability and advance their education.
As the Diversity Mental Health & Wellbeing Coordinator in the Native American Student Success program, she now focuses on student support. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and crafting.
