I can’t get into my residence hall. What do I do?

  • Did you try the key you were issued? 
  • Did you try your U card? 

If neither work, please call the CA on duty. The number should be listed near the entryway (or on the outside door?) 

If you are unable to contact them, please call Public Safety and we will let you in. If you have a persistent issue with your U card failing to work in a residence hall, please contact Residential Life.

I am locked out my room in my residence hall. What do I do?

First, please call the CA on duty. The number should be listed near the entryway (or on the outside door?)

I need to get into a card access room that is locked in an academic building. What do I do?

Are you allowed access to that room? If so, please contact your professor. They will complete a form through public safety authorizing your access. Your name will be entered into the system and your access will be granted.

I need to get into a KEYED room in an academic building and it is locked. What do I do?

If faculty has granted access please fill out the Student Key Request Form. You will be notified by email when your key is ready and you can stop by our Public Safety Office to pick it up.

I forgot an item that belongs to me in an academic building and the building is now closed. What do I do?

Please call Public Safety and we will let you in to retrieve the item. 

I want to gain access to a residence hall to visit my friend. What do I do?

Public Safety cannot allow access to students that don’t reside in that specific hall. Please call your friend as they are the only person that is allowed to let you into the building.

I need access to the CUBE as I live in the apartments. What do I do?

Your U card can be programmed to allow access. Please contact Residential Life and they will send the request.

I would like to study in an academic building after the building is closed. What do I do?

The Student Center and Imholte are the only buildings that have 24 hour computer lounges and study areas, that you can access with your U card.
