The Morris Model Partnership

The Morris Model is a partnership for progress made up of numerous groups from across the Morris community focused on five key areas:

  • Long-term Community Resilience
  • Clean Energy
  • Cultural Exchange
  • Energy Conservation
  • Community Celebration

     

Work done by the Morris Model includes a collaboration with the City of Morris and the Climate Smart Municipalities Program which connects Morris, MN with the city of Saerbeck, Germany. Morris’s partnership with Saerbeck allows our communities to exchange ideas, offer support, and build relationships with people across the globe. 

In March of 2019, Morris adopted a strategic plan developed by members of the Morris Model consisting of three primary goals for our community:

  • Locally produce 80% of Stevens County’s energy needs by 2030
  • Reduce county energy consumption by 30% by 2030
  • Eliminate landfilling of waste generated within the county by 2025

The Morris Model team accepts the 2017 MN Local Government Innovation Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership in improving city infrastructure, planning, and in the case of Morris, sustainability.
