Morris to celebrate inauguration of Chancellor Janet Schrunk Ericksen

The University of Minnesota Morris will celebrate the inauguration of Janet Schrunk Ericksen as chancellor on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 11:30 a.m. in the Student Center’s Edson Auditorium. All are invited to attend.  

University of Minnesota Interim President Jeff Ettinger, Professor Emeritus of Education Gwen Rudney, and a representative from the Morris Campus Student Association will make remarks. 

The Honorable Janie S. Mayeron, Chair, University of Minnesota Board of Regents will install Chancellor Ericksen. 

In recognition of the campus’s origins as an American Indian boarding school, The Northern Winds Singers will perform a Native American Honor Song to recognize and pay tribute to the new chancellor.   

A reception will follow on the campus mall.  Also, that evening, An Iliad, a solo adaptation of Homer's epic poem by Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare, will be performed by Ray Schultz, professor of theatre arts, at 7 p.m. in the George C. Fosgate Black Box Theatre.  

All are welcome to attend the inauguration of Chancellor Ericksen, but RSVPs are encouraged. Parking is available in all campus lots, with the North, West, and Central Parking Lots being most convenient.
