Minneapolis-based artist featured in Morrison Gallery

Work by Minneapolis-based artist Christopher Selleck is now on display in the Edward J. and Helen Jane Morrison Gallery at the University of Minnesota Morris.

The exhibit, This is a Record, runs through Nov. 18.

Selleck’s work delves into the construction of identity via the intersection of masculinity, queerness and athletics; looking at the ways public and private representations are generated and exploring the kinds of intimacy that are generated on the field, the locker room, the bar and the bathhouse.

Selleck also curated the exhibit in the gallery's Mezzanine. Seeing Clearly Now features artists Melissa Borman, Jorge Ariel Escobar, A.K. Garski, Jacob Aaron Schroeder, and Alonzo Pantoja.

These five artists were selected to highlight aspects of queer identity through personal exploration of histories, mediums and encounters with others and themselves. Approaches to craft and execution vary within these works, yet consistently reveal intentional and significant choices of material and presentation. These artists deftly uncover facets of their own identity, and then share those new findings and discoveries with the viewer.
