The top 4 things to consider when planning a major in sociology
- Students majoring in sociology should take Introduction to Sociology (Soc 1101) right away as it is the prerequisite course for the major.
- It is highly recommended that students gain experience through an internship, research project, or studying abroad in their area of their interest in sociology before they graduate.
- The required sociological theory and methods courses are always taught in the fall. The required seminar project course is taught in the spring. The theory and methods courses are prerequisites for the seminar project.
- Students may blend both major courses and general education requirements (GERs) in their first year schedule.
