Green Giving

Morris is well on the way to becoming carbon neutral. We have pledged to adhere to LEED guidelines for future building on campus, and we have a host of other initiatives and academic programs devoted to sustainability.

But it’s a group effort. Our sustainable program came out of students’ concerns for the environment. Faculty, alumni, students, staff, and partners all work together to make our sustainable aspirations a reality.

How You Can Help

One way you can pitch in is to make a gift to help us achieve our goals.

Funds You Can Support

The Morris Sustainable Green Fund, launched in 2007, gives donors a way to support renewable energy projects on campus. Not long after Morris declared its commitment to sustainability, “people really caught the fever,” according to Maddy Maxeiner, vice chancellor emeritus for external relations. “Donors started designating gifts for green projects.”

The University of Minnesota Morris Alumni Association (UMMAA) established the Alumni Impact Fund, an endowed fund that benefits the Morris campus by addressing versatile strategic campus needs. Earnings from the endowment have purchased carbon credits to offset emissions from the campus fleet and grounds equipment.
