U.S. News and World Report and Money magazines have released their fall 2022 rankings, and the University of Minnesota Morris made the “Best College” list in both publications.

UMN Morris was ranked eighth in the Top Public Schools in the National Liberal Arts Colleges category for U.S. News and World Report.

Additionally, UMN Morris improved its ranking among National Liberal Arts Colleges by five places from No. 141 to No. 136, and was ranked 35 in social mobility, a ranking that measures graduation rates for students from lower-income backgrounds.

This is the 24th consecutive appearance for UMN Morris in this annual college ranking.

The U.S. News and World Report results reflect a wide variety of criteria, including graduation rates, indebtedness, faculty resources and expert opinion. For comparison, the top four institutions in the National Public Liberal Arts Colleges category are national military institutions including the U.S. Naval and Air Force Academies and Military Academy at West Point.

For nearly 40 years, these rankings have been published to help high school students make informed decisions about what schools might provide the best educational resources for their needs.

Money magazine has named the University of Minnesota Morris as one of the “50 best liberal arts institutions in the U.S.” in its recent rankings for 2022-2023.

The article states that “Liberal arts colleges focus on undergraduate education in the arts, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences. They offer small classes and the freedom to explore different academic interests."  UMN Morris was ranked number 41 overall.

An analysis of the Money ranking in University Business magazine further cited UMN Morris as a standout for affordability, ranking it at the top for lowest average full cost after grants:

“[T]he University of Minnesota Morris at No. 41 had the lowest cost of attendance of any in the Top 50 after grants at just $11,800. Students who attend see a great return of investment of more than $47,000 early in their careers.”

"These rankings confirm what our students, faculty, staff, graduates and supporters already know -- that Morris is an extraordinary value, not just in terms of cost, but more importantly in the quality of education," said UMN Morris Acting Chancellor Janet Schrunk Ericksen.

These rankings are only the latest to celebrate the University of Minnesota Morris in recent months.
