The public is invited to attend a dedication ceremony for the expanded agrivoltaic solar array nearing completion adjacent to the University of Minnesota Morris campus. The brief ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 at the solar field, located behind the City of Morris Water Treatment Plant.
Over the summer, construction has been underway for 280kW of additional solar PV in the UMN WCROC pasture. When completed, this agrivoltaic array will be over 500kW. This is believed to be the largest dairy-serving agrivoltaic field in the Midwest.
The funding for the 280kW array is from Minnesota's Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund, as directed by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR).
Speakers for the dedication include Sen. Torrey Westrom, Rep. Paul Anderson, University of Minnesota Regent Doug Huebsch and Morris Campus Student Association President Riley Tollefsrud. UMN Morris Vice Chancellor of Finance and Facilities Bryan Herrmann, and West Central Research and Outreach Center Director of Operations Mike Reese will also give brief remarks.
