2023 Student Senior Art exhibition opens April 13

The University of Minnesota Morris proudly presents the 2023 senior art exhibition, ‘Apperception’, or the representation of the process by which a person comprehends one idea by amalgamating it into the body of ideas that already exist. The show will feature seven graduating students from the studio art program. 

All are invited to celebrate our students’ achievements during the opening reception for the gallery on Thursday, April 13, from 7-9 p.m. in the Edward J. and Helen Jane Morrison Gallery.  Refreshments will be served during the reception and recognition will be given to the graduating seniors.

An impressive variety of medium media will be represented in this exhibit, including ceramics, sculpture, digital photography, animation, drawing, painting, and printmaking. Senior artists, their areas of concentration, degrees, and their hometown are as follows:

  • Paulina Bekkum,  painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, studio art with pre-dental minors in chemistry and biology, West Fargo, ND;
  • Anika Dahl, painting, printmaking, mixed media, bookmaking, studio art and art history, White Bear Lake;
  • Mack Edwards, ceramics, mixed media, printmaking, studio art with minors in art history and music, Heron Lake;
  • inaāni Fox, ceramics, painting, mixed media, studio art, Bismarck, ND;
  • Driel Mortenson, sculpture, mixed media, animation, digital photography, studio art, New London;
  • Gillian Leigh Orth, painting, ceramics, studio art and psychology with a minor in English and the Morris honors program, Sartell; and
  • Cameron Schultz, painting, drawing, printmaking, studio art and secondary education, Hector.

The senior exhibit will run in the Edward J. and Helen Jane Morrison Gallery from April 13 to May 13. Gallery hours are Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
