A Message Re: Test Scores & Self-Reported Grades

Dear Colleague,

In an ongoing effort to support your students through their college search and the application process, I am pleased to reaffirm that the University of Minnesota Morris remains test-optional for students entering between now and through the Spring 2025 and Fall 2025 terms.

Does test optional really mean test optional? The answer, simply put, is: YES. We have affirmed that position with our other NACAC partners. As always, UMN Morris follows "a student-centered, holistic approach to admission that will not disadvantage any student without a test score."

Our goal is to give students full control over their application steps which can make the process of applying for admission and receiving an admission decision faster and more affordable.

Our application for admission opens up in August. Students will need to complete the following steps to complete their application:

  1. Submit an application through the University of Minnesota Morris application or the Common Application.
  2. Pay the $30 application fee or request a waiver.
  3. Submit an official OR unofficial high school or secondary school transcript. Students can also upload their transcript when they submit their application online.

As in the past, all students attending the University of Minnesota Morris will need to send an official final high school transcript by July 1. We will send a reminder to students to send this information in late spring.

The college search and the application process do not need to be stressful or overwhelming steps. My staff and I are here to help reduce that stress as much as possible.

I appreciate your partnership and the role you play in the future success of your students. If you have any questions about UMN Morris, or if there are other ways we can assist you, please reach out at 888-866-3382 or email me directly at bstude@morris.umn.edu.

Best wishes for a great year!
