Get ready for an evening filled with side-splitting laughter and jaw-dropping spontaneity as "Whose Line Is It Anyway" meets The Tony Awards in Broadway’s Next Hit Musical! Join us on Friday, February 21, 2024, at 7:30 pm in Edson Auditorium for an unforgettable experience. Every song is fresh, every scene is new – it’s all improvised, and it’s all funny.
Broadway’s Next Hit Musical is the only unscripted theatrical awards show, affectionately known as The PHONY Awards. Audience members get to write down made-up song titles, and our master improvisers will gather these suggestions and present them as “nominated songs” for this coveted award. Watch as spontaneous scenes and songs are created right before your eyes, filled with great dancing, catchy melodies, and tons of laughter. The audience votes for their favorite song, and the cast turns that song into a full-blown improvised musical – complete with memorable characters, witty dialogue, and plot twists galore.
This critically acclaimed show, directed by improv veterans Rob Schiffmann and Deb Rabbai, has been seen throughout the United States, including in New York City at The Triad Theater, The Tribeca Film Festival, and The New York Musical Theater Festival. TheaterWeek hailed the show as “brilliant,” and The New York Post called it “remarkable.” Don’t miss your chance to be part of the next great American musical – it could be written by YOU! Join us for an evening where Broadway magic meets the unpredictability of improvisation. This event is proudly sponsored by the Campus Activities Council. Prepare to laugh, cheer, and maybe even cry (tears of joy) as you witness Broadway’s Next Hit Musical. See you there!
