Education & Interests
Nizhoni Marks (she/her/hers) is Diné, originally from Arizona, and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation. She received her bachelor of science degree in American Indian studies with an emphasis in language, culture, and arts from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. She completed her master of education degree in educational leadership with an emphasis in community college and higher education from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. She also completed doctoral coursework in Indigenous Studies at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
Nizhoni's career has been focused on serving underrepresented Indigenous and minority youth. She currently serves as the associate director for Native American Student Success.
Outside of work, her interests include being a fiber artist with a passion for weaving contemporary Navajo rugs and beadwork. She loves to spend time with her family, travel, and have new experiences.
