Spot the Sunspot! View the Sun through the Telescope

Event Date & Time
Event Location
University of Minnesota Morris Astronomical Observatory

We are welcoming a special guest on campus: Associate Professor Lindsay Glesener from the Minnesota Institute for Astrophysics will give a public lecture

Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 7 p.m. Science Auditorium on the Morris campus

"Exploring the Mysteries of the Sun: Explosions on our closest Star"

Between 4 and 5:30 pm, we will open the observatory, put the big solar filter on, and let you view the sun through the telescope. Sunspots and their rims are visible. Don't worry, it is perfectly safe with the filter. It is a metallizedmylar filter, similar to the material used in eclipse glasses.
