Join us for Family Weekend! Family weekend is a perfect opportunity for families & supporters to get to know the faculty & staff who are invaluable resources to our students and catch a glimpse of life in Morris.  You can experience campus life for yourself by attending engaging events and activities.   A full schedule of events is below:

Friday, October 4:

Regional Fitness Center

The regional fitness center will be open and free to families over Family Weekend!

 

6 pm - 11 pm Library Game Night @ Briggs Library

Briggs Library brings the fun! Come play tons of great board games like Cards Against Humanity, Throw Throw Burrito, Exploding Kittens, Settlers of Catan, Telestrations and Dungeon Mayhem. Snacks and beverages are available all evening. Laser Tag from 7pm-9pm. Improv on the lower level starting at 9:00pm. Archie the Therapy Dog will make an appearance.

 

7 pm Volleyball vs Mankato Bethany Lutheran @ Cougar Sports Center

Join us in the Cougar Sports Center to watch the Cougars take on Mankato Bethany Lutheran!  Wear Maroon and Gold to show your support!!!

 

9 pm Free Friday movie @ Morris Theatre

CAC works with the Morris Theatre to make the 9 p.m. showing on the first Friday of every month free to UMN Morris Students and their families!  Head to the Morris Theatre, located in the heart of town. You’ll enjoy a cinematic experience with us, with the option to purchase popcorn, candy, and other classic movie snacks at the theatre concessions. 

 

Saturday, October 5:

8:30 am Group fitness class @ Regional Fitness Center

Start your day with some exercise together as a family.  Access to the RFC is free for families of students visiting over the weekend.  

 

10 am - 2 pm Morris Campus Bookstore Open @ Science and Math Lower Level

Stock up on your Univeristy of Minnesota Morris branded gear for winter!  The bookstore will be open to assist with all of your shopping needs.  

 

11 am - 1 pm Brunch @ Oyate Hall

Enjoy the best brunch Morris has to offer, with this special catered brunch in Oyate Hall of the Student Center.  Menu will include:  Scrambled eggs with hot onions and peppers on the side, Seasoned Potato Cubes, Belgian Waffles w/ toppings, Sausage Patty, Stuffed Portabello mushrooms, Beef Brisket, Carving Station of Honey Glazed Pit Ham.  Coffee, Tea, Orange Juice, and Apple Juice.  Tickets are $18.99 for adults, $8.99 for kids 6-12 and free for your university students.  Be sure to get your tickets HERE!  There is no formal progam at the brunch but there will be an information table and staff from Student Engagement & Events available to answer questions.  

 

12:00 - 3:00 pm  Service opportunity: Seed Harvest.  Meet @ the Welcome Center

The Office of Community Engagement will coordinate a service opportunity in conjunction with local environmental groups for those families who want to take some time to support the local environment and give back to the Morris community.  

 

12:30 - 1:30 pm  Student Success Center Open House @ Briggs Library 240

Join the Student Success Center student and professional staff for an open house and learn more about all of the ways we support Morris students.  

 

12:30 - 2 pm TRIO Student Support Services/Native American Student Success/Equity Diversity & Intercultural Programs Open House @ in front of the Multi-Ethnic Resource Center

Stop in at this reception and meet the faculty and staff who have been working with your students to provide assistance and support for their success.  

 

1 pm Volleyball vs Martin Luther College @ Cougar Sports Center

Join us in the Cougar Sports Center to watch the Cougars take on Martin Luther College!  Wear Maroon and Gold to show your support!!!

 

2:30 pm Green Tour @ meet at HIgbies Coffee Shop in the Student Center

Learn more about why UMN Morris is one of the most sustainable campuses in the United States. This quick "green tour" will take you to some of our favorite sites, including our wind turbines (Bert and Ernie), the solar agrivoltaic field and more!

 

3 pm - Creating your own magic! How to build a career that fits you (workshop with Magician AnnaRose) @ Student Center, TMC

Join Campus Activities Council & Career Services for this FREE Performing Arts Series masterclass, where magician AnnaRose will share her story of where she wanted to go with her degree and how that life took a 180 after she attended a stage show while she was in college. From a business degree to performing live, AnnaRose had to keep her spirits up despite the various ups and downs of creating and learning the ropes.

 

4:30 pm - Dinner on your own

Be sure to pick up a Morris Shopping and Dining Guide at the information table in the Student Center.  Enjoy a great night out at one of the many restaurants and hit a few stores in town as well!  

 

7:30 pm Performing Arts Series:  Magician AnnaRose @ Edson Auditorium

Join Campus Activities Council for an enchanting evening as we kick off our 2024/25 Performing Arts Series with the mesmerizing AnnaRose and her Magic Stage Show! Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 5th, 2024, at 7:30 PM, and head to the Edward J and Helen Jane Morrison Performing Arts Center, Edson Auditorium, located in the Student Center, for an unforgettable night of magic and laughter.
