Summit Scholars Peer Mentoring

TRIO SSS/NASS Peer Mentor Becca (she/her/hers) is double majoring in Human Services with an emphasis in Criminal Justice and Spanish with a minor in Anthropology and Political Science. Becca is an active member around campus--she teaches ESL, is a Campus Ambassador, serves on a couple leadership positions in clubs, & serves as the Humanities Division Spanish Representative. In her free time she enjoys traveling, volunteering at the Humane Society, and playing with her dog, Katie.

Driel (any pronouns) is a Studio Art major and Computer Science minor in their third year at Morris, second year as a peer mentor. Driel has participated in MoQSIE and Art Club. They were a TA for Introduction to Digital Media Computation last spring. They like lines! Shapes! Colors! They'd also like you to feel free to reach out to them, whether to get help or chat.

Gabby (She/Her/Hers) is a second year student this year, and hopes to graduate in 2024. Gabby is majoring in Political Science and Biology. Gabby has been involved with MCSA, Campus Assembly, Improv Troupe, Campus Ambassadors, Theatre, and Student Activities. Gabby enjoys reading, swimming, spending time with friends and family, and watching the Twilight Saga over and over again.

Jon is going into his senior year at UMM, majoring in math. He was part of the gateway program in summer of 2018 and has been in TRIO since his first year. Besides TRIO, he also works at the ISP in Morris helping international students. In his free time, Jon  likes to play video games, watch anime, and read manga. He enjoys playing ping-pong and pool. Feel free to reach out to him if  you want someone to play with.

TRIO SSS/ McNair Peer Mentor Laura is a senior and is double majoring in Psychology and Human Services with a Subplan of Social Justice. It is her second year as a TRIO SSS and a McNair Peer Mentor, but she has been with TRIO SSS since her first year! If you don’t see Laura on campus, you can find her hanging out with friends, studying at the TMC or Library, longboarding around Morris, or getting coffee at the local coffee shop Common Cup! If you need a smile, a laugh, or have any questions about campus or the town, feel free to ask Laura!

Lucero is a 4th year student pursuing a major in psychology and a minor in English. Lucero is originally from Puerto Rico, but moved to the U.S. to study. Lucero enjoys reading, music, and painting. She loves the beach!

Vanessa (she/her/hers) is a third-year student, majoring in Biology and Secondary Education. This will be her first year as a TRIO SSS mentor but has been in TRIO since her first year at Morris. Vanessa was a part of Gateway in the summer of 2019, which is where she met many of her current friends. Vanessa worked this summer for ESL TREC on campus as well as ISP with international student pickups. Vanessa hopes to be involved in the Biology Club this year and is always open to joining new clubs or trying out new things! This is also Stella (the hamster) she is a new addition to her family, so if you ever need a break from school work feel free to have a pet date with Stella!
