UMN Morris to award over $400,000 in scholarships as part of Community of Scholars events

On Dec. 5, high school students from across the country will come to the University of Minnesota Morris to participate in the first of four Community of Scholars events.

As part of these exclusive scholarship competition events, UMN Morris will award more than $400,000 to incoming first-year students through the Prairie Scholars Award and the Morris Scholars Award—the Morris campus’s most prestigious scholarships. Recipients of the Prairie Scholars and Morris Scholars Awards will be selected following the Community of Scholars event.

Based on exemplary academic and leadership record, the Prairie Scholars Award is a full tuition scholarship and is renewable for four years with a total value of more than $32,000.

The Morris Scholars Award is based on an outstanding academic and leadership record. Morris Scholars receive a $28,000 scholarship package, disbursed evenly over four years, plus a one-time $2,500 scholarship stipend that may be used during the second, third, or fourth year at UMN Morris to engage in an eligible scholarly experience (e.g., to study abroad, research or artistic projects, or for travel to academic conferences).

Community of Scholars candidates have already been offered admission to the University of Minnesota Morris.

During their visit, the candidates will have opportunities to connect with other scholarship finalists, to interact with current students, to engage with faculty and staff, and to experience the UMN Morris campus in-depth. Families of the scholars will have an opportunity to tour the Morris community as well.

The University of Minnesota Morris has been named one of the 50 best liberal arts institutions in the U.S. by Money magazine. University Business magazine further cited UMN Morris as a standout for affordability, ranking it at the top for lowest average full cost after grants.

High school students should apply to UMN Morris by Dec. 15 to be eligible to participate in the Community of Scholars events on campus Jan. 30, 31 and Feb. 28, 2026.
