Building on a record of recent accolades in both education and engagement, the University of Minnesota Morris remains in a top 10 position in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings.
UMN Morris is ranked ninth in the Top Public Schools in the National Liberal Arts Colleges category for U.S. News and World Report. This is the 27th consecutive appearance for UMN Morris in this annual college ranking.
“UMN Morris’ consistent placement among America’s leading public liberal arts universities illustrates the hard work and successes of faculty and staff to live out the University’s mission of providing world-class education and collaborating with communities throughout Minnesota and beyond,” said Chancellor Michael Rodriguez.” This is an important and wide-spread public recognition of the excellence of our college, its people and its instructional program.”
The U.S. News and World Report results reflect a wide variety of criteria, including graduation rates, student debt, faculty resources and expert opinion.
For nearly 40 years, these rankings have been published to help high school students make informed decisions about which schools might provide the best educational resources for their needs.
These rankings are only the latest to recognize the University of Minnesota Morris in recent months. In July, Colleges of Distinction recognized UMN Morris as a 2026-2027 College of Distinction in these areas: business and education programs and equity and inclusion efforts. Earlier this year, UMN Morris received the 2026 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, an elective designation that highlights an institution’s commitment to community engagement.
