U.S. News and World Report has released its 2025 rankings, and the University of Minnesota Morris improved in three key areas.

UMN Morris is tied for seventh in the Top Public Schools in the National Liberal Arts Colleges category for U.S. News and World Report, up one notch from last year’s rankings.

Additionally, UMN Morris improved its overall ranking among National Liberal Arts Colleges by eight places from No. 130 to No. 122, and was ranked 57 in social mobility, up from the No. 71 position last year. This ranking measures graduation rates for students from lower-income backgrounds.

This is the 26th consecutive appearance for UMN Morris in this annual college ranking.

The U.S. News and World Report results reflect a wide variety of criteria, including graduation rates, indebtedness, faculty resources and expert opinion. For comparison, the top four institutions in the National Public Liberal Arts Colleges category are national military institutions including the U.S. Naval and Air Force Academies and Military Academy at West Point.

For nearly 40 years, these rankings have been published to help high school students make informed decisions about what schools might provide the best educational resources for their needs.

"These rankings confirm what our students, faculty, staff, graduates and supporters already know -- that Morris is an extraordinary value, not just in terms of cost, but more importantly in  the quality of education," said UMN Morris Chancellor Janet Schrunk Ericksen.

These rankings are only the latest to celebrate the University of Minnesota Morris in recent months.  In July, Colleges of Distinction recognized UMN Morris as a 2024-205 College of Distinction in these areas:  Business and Education programs and Equity and Inclusion efforts.  Also that same month, The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2024 named the University of Minnesota Morris one of "the best and most interesting" colleges in the US, Canada, Great Britain, and Ireland. This is the 11th straight year UMN Morris has made the college guide's cut.
