Dates & Locations

The 2015 session ran Monday, June 22–Friday, August 14.

This is an 8-week program, which includes a 6-week residential program and a 14-day field research trip to Brazil.

REU will be conducted at the University of Minnesota, Morris, a undergraduate liberal arts campus of the University of Minnesota. The Morris campus is located 150 miles west of Minneapolis-St. Paul. Fieldwork in Brazil will be based in central Parana state.

The Morris Geology Discipline offers a strong Bachelor of Arts curriculum. There are excellent facilities available for the analysis of sediment and sedimentary rock. The region surrounding UMM offers diverse geology dominated by glacial deposits. REU students will work directly with Faculty in the classroom and in the field. Our emphasis is on individual attention.

During their 6-week stay at the University of Minnesota, Morris, REU students live in on-campus apartments. When not pursuing research, writing papers or attending seminars students can jog or ride bicycles around the spacious campus, play tennis, or use the facilities in the Regional Fitness Center (including an Olympic-size swimming pool, basketball courts and exercise rooms).
