National Merit Scholarships

National Merit Finalists who choose UMN Morris as their first-choice college will receive a full tuition scholarship, renewable for up to four years. Semi-Finalists and Commended Scholars are eligible for up to $4,000 disbursed evenly over four years, renewable for up to four years. Students must provide the Office of Admissions with documentation of their National Merit status to receive the award.

The National Merit Scholarship Program selects and notifies Commended Students.

Commended Students provide the Office of Admissions documentation of their status to receive the $4,000 dispersed evenly over four years, renewable for up to four years.

The National Merit Scholarship Program selects and notifies Semi-Finalist Students.

January–February

The National Merit Scholarship Program selects and notifies Finalist Students.

March–April

The National Merit Scholarship Program selects and notifies National Merit Scholars Winners.

National Merit Finalists who choose Morris as their first-choice college will receive a full tuition scholarship, renewable for up to four years.

June–July

National Merit confirms students’ attendance and enrollment at respective colleges.

September

Scholarship check award sent to college in Scholar’s name.

How to Apply

United States high school students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), usually during their junior year of high school.
