GWSS Career & Graduate Opportunities

As a liberal arts degree, the Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies major instills vital intellectual skills in students, whether they choose to enter the workplace after college or continue their academic work at the graduate level.

In particular the GWSS major, with its focus on multiple perspectives and critical analysis, provides tools for students to synthesize information from many sources and come to coherent, actionable conclusions. These abilities are increasingly important in a media- and information-rich environment, where it is easy to become overwhelmed by the volume of content and concepts.

GWSS alumni have followed a variety of career tracks. In addition to directly entering the workforce in diverse occupations, some have:

  • Become organizers or activists for causes of social justice
  • Entered educational fields
  • Been admitted to graduate programs in gender studies, feminist studies, and more
