Academic Planning: Economics
The top 5 things to consider when planning a major in economics
- Students should take Principles of Economics (ECON 1101) and Intro to Statistics (STAT 1601) in their first year.
- Calculus I (MATH 1101) is required and should be taken in year one, if possible. If the student tests into a lower level of Math, they should start with Math in the first semester.
- The Economics major pairs well with several other majors and minors on campus, including (but not limited to): History, Psychology, Business and Management, Math, Philosophy, Modern Languages, Environmental Studies, and Political Science.
- A semester or more of study abroad is strongly encouraged.
- Students should work closely with their adviser to choose complementary coursework from across the campus.
