Academic Planning: Business and Management
The top 5 things to consider when planning a major in business & management
- The Business and Management major is deeply interdisciplinary at UMN Morris. Required classes are drawn from Management, Economics, Communications Media and Rhetoric, Statistics, Math or Computer Science, Philosophy, and Psychology.
- Students should take Principles of Economics (ECON 1101), Public Speaking (CMR 1042), and Intro to Statistics (STAT 1601) in the first year.
- Students should take Principles of Accounting 1 (MGMT 2101) in the fall semester of their second year. This is a prerequisite for many of the upper division electives in MGMT.
- Students should consult their major adviser to develop a plan for selecting appropriate elective courses to meet their goals and interests.
- With a little advanced planning, a second complementary major in Economics (ECON) is a popular and strategic choice for many students, particularly those with some math aptitude.
